  1. I started using 7.5mg melixicam because of a bad car accident In May 6,2014 before the medicine I suffered with bad acne and oily skin I went to estatechians and used expensive products but nothing worked. ever since I been on melixicam. My skin is acne free and its soft which I cant complain.

  2. I have been taking 15mg of the generic and my acne has cleared up completely on my face but not on my neck. I have suffered with breakouts for over 30 years.

  3. I was taking birth control pills along with 105 mg of Solodyn for about 4 years and I was completely acne free. I chose to stop taking them both due to health reasons. About 6 months later I started having really bad breakouts, worse than I’ve ever had. I started back on the Solodyn to try and help clear my face, but it wasn’t working as well without the birth control pills. I was having these large hard bumps that would last for 3-4 weeks without getting a whitehead on it, but would leave a really ugly dark spot. I was prescribed Mobic 7.5 for arthritis 1 pill twice a day. After about 2 weeks of taking it, the hard bumps along with the small white pimples have vanished. Along with topicals, Tazorac & bleaching cream, my face is almost back to normal. It’s most definitely the Mobic that’s clearing my face! It took some time for me to realize it. I think the Mobic is fighting the inflammation in my body and clearing my face at the same time. I was told acne is all inflammation by my dermatologist.

  4. my son (16) started on Meloxicam for his ankylosing spondylitis broke out his face very bad – tried everything OTC to diet to make it go away nothing helped then – took him off of it and it has cleared up

  5. I’ve suffered w adult acne most my adult years. When menopause started to set in, my face cleared up.

i started taking meloxicam on Monday and within 24 hrs a very painful knot appeared with another one or two forming every day thereafter. i wondered if it was the medication so stopped taking it after 4 days. It may be a coincidence, but no new irritations and all but one hurt much less and seem to be healing – hopefully (usually last over a month w me).

i’m wondering if there is a hormone connection w Meloxicam that would cause some to breakout and others not.

  6. Began taking Meloxicam 15mg per day for arthritic pain in November 2015 and it has been about 3 weeks of being on this medication that I have noticed a huge DECREASE in my acne. I have been dealing with acne for 20 years and have taken multiple prescriptions (pills and topical) specifically to treat my acne and nothing has worked. I had no idea this medication would benefit me in this way, but I am pleasantly surprised. Overjoyed, actually.

    1. Curious if you had any other updates to this. I also have had acne my whole life and after 2 weeks of being on this med, I have soft beautiful skin that is nearly acne free. It’s wonderful. I am hoping it will last!

  7. I’m 27 and I’ve suffered from acne since I was 11 years old. My acne has been especially bad for the past year. I’ve tried oral and topical perspection medications, proactive, drugstore products, diet changes. I’ve seen multiple dermatologists and estheticians. 3 weeks ago I started taking meloxicam. My skin has cleared with this like NOTHING else.

  8. I am a 34 y/o female and have suffered with moderate acne of all forms since the age of ten. Most recently, I took Spironolactone for the last two+ years, and it worked wonders on decreasing my breakouts and amount of oil production.

I started taking Meloxicam 15mg/day about two months ago for my Spondyloarthropathy, and my face, neck, and back have been cycling through painful, cystic breakouts since about the second or third week.

Meloxicam and Spiro cannot be safely combined. My diet is free of wheat, dairy, beef, and added sugars, due to food allergies, so there is nothing left to be changed in that regard. I supplement with EPO, magnesium, B complex, C, and Zinc. I workout regularly, drink plenty of water, and exercise good hygiene.

I am at a loss, as the Meloxicam has given back the life I thought I’d lost. My pain and range of motion have improved significantly on this drug, and I do not wish to discontinue its use, however, I need to figure out how to counter this apparent hormonal shift or I’ll likely choose confidence over comfort, and slip back into the dark hole of chronic pain and intestinal disorders that accompany the spinal arthropathies. (I believe that may be the longest, run-on sentence I’ve ever penned. Lol)

Meloxicam absolutely has an effect on hormones, as it is well known that it delays ovulation in women. I have experienced this myself, and so I am certain hormones are to blame, I just need to figure out how to balance them back out, again.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

  9. Started using Meloxicam and I noticed sometime there after I broke out with very severe acne on both sides of my face. I’m 51 years old and never even had bad as a teenager. This has been devastating to me and have stop taking the medication for my bad disc problems in my back. I’m hoping this clears up, although its only been one day since I stopped taking the product. I’m happy to hear that it had the opposite effect on some of the other users, funny how things work sometimes.

  10. I have been on meloxicam 15 mg for about 8 months now. I had a severely inflamed elbow joint that I could not move. Was prescribed meloxicam and sent to a rheumatologist due to all my other arthritic type symptoms. Overall I’m ok, but he wanted me to take the meloxicam for 6-9 months straight to try and clear my joints. Along with vitamin D since I was severely deficient.
I had acne as a teen and young adult, but it mostly cleared after my first child. Other than hormonal acne. I started getting cystic acne back in early fall 2016 (which was ironic because I had started taking better care of my face than ever). I’ve tried everything under the sun to clear it but nothing has helped. The one week I saw a great improvement in my skin was when I had the flu and wasn’t taking my meloxicam. I never realized that connection till now. Hoping I can come off of it soon so my face can have a break. Maybe I can loose some weight too.

  11. I suffered a knee injury Feb 2017. In the summer, I was still suffering with pain so my orthopedic dr prescribed me Meloxicam. Since then I’ve been suffering with Severe Cystic Acne on my cheeks (which I’ve never had before now). I’ve been dealing with the acne for almost 9 months. I’ve tried everything (diet/eliminating dairy/essential oils/rx acne medications prescribed by my dermatologist) I never realized the correlation until reading these threads. My knee has healed and pain from running can be managed now with ibuprofen. Going to try to stop the Meloxicam and see if that helps clear up the acne.

  12. Im taking meloxicom for tennis and golf elbow pain as an anti-inflammatory started to get adult acne on my face which I thought was brought by stress by when it had continued for over 8mths i was worried. I never had acne at all before. I stop taking at Christmas and my skin cleared up, then I also missed it for a few days last week and my skin got better almost immediately so this hot me thinking. It is wierd that others have an opposite effect. It also doesnt seem to be helping my elbow pain anymore either.

  13. I’ve had rosacea for 20 years triggered by changes in hormone levels in my 30s. I always had perfect skin until then. I started taking Mobic 3 weeks ago 2x/day for severe joint pain (no diagnosis, possibly Psoriatic arthritis) and my face is welt and weepy sore free. I’ve tried everything from Metrogel to oral antibiotics daily. Mobic is the only thing that worked.

  14. I am 36 years old and have been struggling with cystic hormonal acne on my chin for the past 9-10 years. I would have 1-2 big cysts at all times and sometimes 5+. I have spent a small fortune at a med spa on facials and treatments, always wash my makeup off, tried changing my diet, birth control, etc. NOTHING WORKED. Then, a couple of months ago, I was prescribed meloxicam for arthritis. I started taking it right before Christmas when I was in the middle of a pretty significant stress induced acne outbreak. It took about the same amount of time to clear up, but….I have not had a single pimple since and it’s February 6th! That’s 6 weeks acne free which hasn’t happened in at least a decade. It’s crazy. The only thing that I have done differently is start the meloxicam so I’m convinced that is the key and it makes sense since acne is pretty much a symptom of inflammation. This was a very unexpected and welcome side effect.

  15. Crazy the responses. I dealt with cystic acne since teen years and even went to school for paramedical skincare and nothing helped until I cut chocolate(total balls) last year at age 33. My skin finally cleared up!! Began taking meloxicam for back pain since diclofenac wasn’t working anymore and I thought it was a few indiscretions of chocolate indulgence… My skin has flared with bumps EVERYWHERE. It’s been ample time since I’ve sneaked the chocolate so I checked my only other diet change of meloxicam and I’m going to definitely change back to the diclofenac tomorrow since most of the pain has subsided and I’m assuming my breakouts might me medicinal related. Also it’s causing insomnia… Hence the 2:30 am post..m
